Screw compressor

A rotary Screw Compressor fills a need in the natural gas compression and process gas compression industries by supplying larger volume, low-pressure applications. Screw compressors are rugged and can handle some liquid slugging, which would damage less sturdy types of compressors. Screw compressors are also less expensive than process centrifugal and reciprocating types.

Screw compressors are used in open systems such as natural gas compression, where the gas needs to be reasonably clean, and in closed systems such as industrial refrigeration. Oil separation and filtering are critical in open systems because of oil loss and make-up.

Sep-Pro screw compressor designs include a three-stage coalescing oil separator. A screw compressor can be combined in a staged series configuration with higher-pressure reciprocating or centrifugal compressors. The screw compressor can compress a low-pressure gas to a much higher pressure (e.g. 10-30 psig compressed to 250-300 psig). This reduces the required size of a higher stage reciprocating compressor by the inverse ratio of the compression ratio. This significantly reduces equipment cost.

Sep-Pro is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and builds the compressor units: skid base, oil separators, oil systems, and piping and PLC controls. Sep-Pro builds the systems to hazardous area specs (e.g. Class I, Group D, Div 1 or 2) if required. The piping spec can conform to ANSI B31.3, the Chemical Plant and Refining Piping Code. All vessels are ASME U stamped.

Since we manufacture our own heat exchangers, receiver vessels, and control panels, Sep-Pro can be very competitive on a screw compressor package.
